Introducing my Outdoor Photography Sessions for 2021

Try something new…

Having done many photo sessions with Seona, we were very excited to see the option of an outdoor shoot in the river location. Our kids love being outdoors and especially playing in water, so it was a perfect for us. We enjoy having family photos taken. It’s the only way to get quality photos of us all smiling together and Seona always produces so many amazing ones to choose from. She is a truly, talented photographer, able to take fantastic shots, while putting everyone at ease with her fun and relaxed manner. Our kids have genuinely loved all the sessions we have done with her. We had such a great time at the river shoot, playing in the water, while she took beautiful shots. She makes a very difficult job seem very easy. These sessions allow us to capture memories as the kids grow and we particularly love the outdoor ones. Seona always gets so many good shots that it’s impossible to choose just one or two, so for us the story book frame was the perfect way to display the amazing photos from the session. It looks beautiful on our wall and always make us smile when we look at it.

With springtime fast approaching, days getting longer and the sun starting to make more of an appearance, there’s never been a better time to begin to embrace the great outdoors. This year I’m so excited to be able to offer my outdoor photography sessions once again. A popular choice with lots of families in 2020, these shoots allow everyone to get involved, right down to the furriest members of the family! If you’ve never had an outdoor photoshoot before and are interested to learn more, you’re in the right place! Today I’m going to tell you 3 reasons I think you should consider opting for an outdoor photography session for your family this year.

Where better to start than by stating the obvious? These sessions take place outside, and therein lies the reason for booking an outdoor session… you’ll be taking advantage of the most magnificent natural scenery acting as the backdrop for your family portraits. Although I may be biased, Scotland really does offer us some stunning landscapes that are ideal for creating photographs you’ll treasure forever. It’s a good time to add in a caveat, namely that I know that when it comes to the Scottish weather, it can be a big ask when it comes to warm sun and clear blue skies. Thankfully, this isn’t a prerequisite for my outdoor sessions – I’m able to work throughout a range of weather conditions (in as far as possible), and this is something we can chat more about if its a concern.

The second reason I recommend going for an outdoor photography session is that after the year we’ve all had, getting outside in the fresh air is just what doctor ordered! If you’re looking for a family photography session that you can have alongside the more traditional studio shoots, this is a good option. The finished product will likely look dramatically different from the more classic studio portraits you’re probably familiar with, thus offering a different angle when it comes to hanging wall art in your home. Being outside in amongst nature and wildlife is just a much-needed…and added benefit if you ask me!

And finally, in at number 3 is a three-letter word that we could all do with right now… FUN! I can almost guarantee that when it comes to my outdoor photography sessions, fun will be on the cards for both the kids and the adults! There’s also the option to include pets too, adding a truly authentic feel to your portrait session. Your  session will transcend into beautiful wall art for your home, helping you and your family to make everlasting memories, that you will display and enjoy in your home for many years…..and a great opportunity to create that family album that you’ve always wanted to own.

Thinking you’d like to book yourself in for an outdoor session but still have some questions? Not sure where would be best to hold your photoshoot, or worried about what to wear? I’m here to help you throughout the planning sessions and of course whilst directing the shoot itself.

When it comes to locations, I can suggest suitable places and the best times of day to shoot when it comes to lighting etc. I also want to reassure you that I’m well-experienced in having to round up those smaller humans who may get distracted and require a little coaxing to participate – it’s all part of the job description!

If you’d like to find out more about these outdoor photoshoots and book your family in, please get in touch. I’m also able to take bookings for my studio sessions too, just contact me to get a date in the diary.
